Clarity of Purpose

The barangay logo contest was a politically sound initiative by Mayor Grace R. America, not because I was one of the five judges chosen by the lady mayor, but because it was an exercise of giving the 36 barangays the chance to express freely their creativity in local governance by preparing their logos which are reflective of their visions, for a barangay governance without a vision is a barangay governance with a direction out of sight. There is a clarity of purpose of the project, but my very own barangay, Poblacion Bantilan where my family is officially and permanently residing failed to grasp the purpose, instead of depicting its vision, it portrayed its image emphasizing of what is the obvious. It all happened this way.

Profile

It has a total land area of 34,276 hectares and a population of 50,992 people in 10,220 households based on the data released by the NSO on 2007 Census. It is located 144 kilometers northeast of Manila, and 136 kilometers north of Lucena City and has a geographical coordinates of 13° 45' N, 121° 37' E. It is lying along the coast of the Pacific Ocean facing the island municipalities of Polillio. It straddles a portion of the Sierra Madre Mountains.
